to start, this is not my proudest playlist. especially in the last few years, I thought rap music did not require any talent. it was just autotune ffs. and yet it was still people's favorite. I criticized the music at every chance I got. I said this music is seasonal; nobody will remember these songs or artists next year, blablabla...
I always told people to listen to real music, I also told them that rap music is the music of idiots. this is real btw; I will share a paragraph from a research took place in 2009.
"According to him(Griffith, 2009), comparing school performance obtained at SAT exams and the music listened by the subjects, the students with best results listen primarily to classical music, those with high intellectual performances are fans of Radiohead, U2, Bob Dylan(i.e., mostly listeners of rock music), and those with medium and above intellectual capacities listen to Queen, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Franck Sinatra or Bob Marley. A special category is that of the least intellectually gifted individuals who listen to commercial music (pop, commercial rap/hip-hop etc.)."
but after quite some time, I have found out that real rap music requires real talent. I started to listen very little of it and you know what? it is alright. it is entertaining. the topics may be about killing people, sex, drugs etc. but I couldn't care less about what is told in the lyrics. I have always listened to songs about love to this day, when I did not believe in love, when I was in love and when I lost love. I have found the lyrics stupid from time to time but I did not care, as long as it entertained me.
the current state of turkish rap sucks so hard but if it is what people like, then I do not get to say anything I guess. everyone is free to listen to the music they like. but I highly recommend turkish old-school rap. me and my buddies (shootout to orhan and kbk) used to listen to them to mock someone (c.s) as a joke, but we started to love the songs over time. first part of the playlist contains these.
and finally, do not dare to read the name of the playlist out loud in public if you are not looking for trouble. I get to say the word because..... you know ...... my skin color. but you do not get to say it. and the cover picture for the playlist is not a coincidence. I felt like a genius after I chose it. lol. I am not racist, btw. also not in the position to be racist.
